  18. 1. Purpose of the program
  19.  
  20. Amn Refrigerator is intended for halt of work of the CPU in case of
  21. occurrence of idle times in operating system Windows 9x.
  22. Halt of the central processor results in reduction of capacity, consumed
  23. by the processor, that in turn results in reduction of heating of the
  24. processor, reduction of probability failure because of overheating,
  25. reduction of probability of occurrence of mistakes at performance of the
  26. instructions and prolongation to service life of the processor.
  27. Besides service life of storage batteries of Notebook computers grows.

  29. 2. Principle of work of the program
  30.  
  31. In case of occurrence of idle time of operating system the program carries
  32. out instructions the processor HLT, resulting to halt of the basic units of
  33. the processor. From a halt mode the processor leaves at occurrence anyone
  34. external (in relation to the processor) signal (interruption), which can
  35. be interruptions of the timer, controller of disks, keyboard, mouse and
  36. other devices.
  37. Besides there is an opportunity compulsory halt of the processor by pressing
  38. a Pause key (it is necessary to activate in adjustments). Thus the processor
  39. continues to react to all external signals and to process them in
  40. appropriate way, but the performance of the appendices of an applied level
  41. stops. For an exit from this mode it is necessary repeatedly to press
  42. a Pause key. Thus pressing and release of a key Pause disappears from all
  43. a component of system.

  45. 3. Components of the program

  47. The program consists of the following components:
  48. - The driver of the virtual device (VxD), realizing functions of cooling.
  49.   The driver is loaded automatically at start Windows and for performance
  50.   any additional component of the program does not require.
  51. - The Amn Refrigerator monitor - displays in System Tray icon, with
  52.   statistics of use of the processor, provides access to connected modules
  53.   of display of the extended statistics, access to adjustments of the
  54.   program (by pressing the right mouse button on the program icon
  55.   System Tray). Can not be loaded for economy of memory.
  56. - The modules of display of the extended statistics are caused by pressing
  57.   the left mouse button on the program icon in System Tray. The functions
  58.   which are carried out by modules are various and depend on the module.
  59.   The choice of the current module is carried out in adjustments of the
  60.   program. The additional modules can be loaded through Internet. The module
  61.   is loaded into memory only at the moment of its actual use and is
  62.   unloaded after termination of  use.

  64. 4. Requirement to hardware and software

  66. - The i386 compatible processor (or is higher)
  67. - Microsoft(R) Windows 9x
  68. - 2Kb RAM without the loaded monitor,
  69.   70Kb RAM with the loaded monitor,
  70.   100-250 Kb RAM with the loaded module of the extended
  71.   statistics (depends on the module).
  72. - 300Kb and more place on a hard disk (depends on quantity of the
  73.   installed modules).

  75. 5. If Amn Task Manager is installed
  76.  
  77. In the Amn Task Manager's driver all functions Amn Refrigerator's driver
  78. is realized. Thus the driver Amn Refrigerator is not loaded, and monitor
  79. and the connected modules use the driver Amn Task Manager. For adjustment
  80. of processing of a key Pause it is necessary to use Amn Task Manager.

  82. 6. Problem

  84. At the established processing of a key Pause the following effect is
  85. possible:
  86. By pressing a combination Win Logo + Pause the processor stops, by
  87. repeated pressing a Pause key the work of the processor renews, but the
  88. Win Logo key remains logically is pressed. For it "release" it is necessary
  89. repeatedly on it to press.

  91. 7. Installation
  92.  
  93. For installation of the program you need to unpack the installation package
  94. and run SETUP.EXE file. After end of installation procedure, computer must
  95. be rebooted. After reboot of operating system, the program icon of CPU
  96. loading is visible in System Tray. By pressing the right mouse key on this
  97. icon, it is possible to set preferable language (Menu Language).

  99. 8. Uninstall

  101. For uninstall of Amn Refrigerator you can to use "Add/Remove Program"
  102. dialog in the control Panel. For  uninstall choose Amn Refrigerator 3.0.
